Selection and preparation of ingredients
In order for blueberry jam to turn out to be complete both in taste and in storage duration, care should be taken in advance about the quality of the feedstock. Overripe berries that can turn the desired product into an unattractive porridge should not be used to prepare the product.
Important! Do not use copper or aluminum cookware for cooking blueberry jam, with the metals of which blueberry juice reacts.
Unripe berries are also unsuitable for the cooking process. An indispensable condition for long-term storage of the product is the thorough drying of the fruit after washing.
Blueberry jam prescriptions for the winter
Currently, there are already many recipes for making a sweet product from blueberries, which differ in the set of ingredients and cooking methods.
Classic Jam Recipe

- Ripe, hard, undamaged blueberry fruits are picked.
- They are washed, dried and placed in an enameled container.
- In a separate container, water is heated, sugar is dissolved in it and thick syrup is boiled.
- Prepared blueberry fruits are poured in a boiling syrup and left to infuse for half an hour.
- Meanwhile, two liter jars are sterilized, dried and boiled lids to them.
- The infused product is again brought to a boil over low heat and boiled for a third of an hour with frequent stirring and periodic removal of the foam.
- Then the finished jam is poured into prepared jars and hermetically closed.
- The cans with the product are turned upside down and covered with warm material.
- After cooling, the cans are cleaned in a darkened and cool place.

- Lemon fruit is well washed and peel is removed from it with thin strips.
- Juice is squeezed from the pulp of a lemon.
- Mint leaves pick from the stems.
- The stems are cut into 3 parts, which are folded together and tied with a thread.
- Mint leaves are stacked and finely chopped.
- Lemon juice and brown sugar are added to the water and brought to a boil.
- After that, foam is removed from the syrup and lemon peel and mint stems are added to it.
- The resulting mixture was boiled for 5 minutes.
- Then, mint leaves and blueberries are added to the syrup.
- On low heat, the product is again brought to a boil and cooked for 5 minutes.
- After being removed from the fire, it is cooled and mint stems are removed from it.
Important! Quickly cooked blueberry jam with mint should be stored only in the refrigerator and not more than 2 weeks.
Five Minute Jam

- Thoroughly washed berries must be dried.
- They are put in enameled dishes, covered with granulated sugar and put overnight in a cool place.
- During this time, blueberry fruits actively release juice, turning sugar into syrup.
- Then put the syrup on the fire and bring to a boil.
- Boiling lasts 5 minutes.
- After that, the finished product is laid out on previously sterilized 2 banks with a capacity of 1 liter, which are closed with disinfected covers.
- Cooled jars with five-minute jam, which, due to the short cooking time, preserves the maximum of useful substances, are sent to a place of permanent storage, the temperature in which should not exceed + 20 ° С.
Sugarless

- To make jam useful for colds, it is necessary to carefully sort out and rinse the fruits.
- After that, the dried berries should be poured into an enameled bowl and put on a medium-high heat.
- While the fruits of blueberries burst and let the juice, you need to melt the honey.
- When the berries start juice, they need to pour melted honey and mix well.
- The resulting mixture should be brought to a boil and cook for 5 minutes.
- Then you need to add rum to the product and boil the mixture for 1 min.
- In the finished form, jam is poured into a liter jar and after cooling is placed in the refrigerator.

Jam boiled for a long time and placed in sterilized jars, tightly closed with boiled lids, can be stored in a cool and darkened place for up to 1 year. The instant product is intended to be stored only in the refrigerator for a maximum of a crescent.
