California Pellet Mill, one of the largest pelletizing equipment developers and manufacturers in the world, is donating nearly $ 2.6 million in equipment to the new Iowa State University of Iowa training and research center for feed grinding and grain.
A CPM donation will provide equipment, automation and services. This gift is the latest contribution to a feed mill and grain complex worth $ 21.2 million, which will be fully funded by private donations.
A gift from CPM increases the total amount raised for the facility to $ 16.5 million. In 2017, Kent Corp., Iowa Corn Promotion Board and Sukup Manufacturing Co. allocated $ 14 million for the construction of the complex. The planning of the complex includes a feed mill tower, feed and mixing structures, grain storage bins, as well as a classroom and a laboratory building.
The facility will become a center for continuing education and continuing education programs for feed and grain workers. These programs will help employees cope with a growing number of regulatory compliance issues, solve biosafety issues, and gain experience with advanced processing methods.
