In the Odessa region there is the Moldavian village of Frumushika Nova, which grows astrakhan sheep brought into the Bessarabian steppes in 1890. For this species of lamb they want to get a geographical indication, the representatives of the project “Geographical Indications in Ukraine” said in a statement.
The village of Frumushika Nova was revived in 2006 and became a highlight of tourist routes on the Wine and Taste of Ukrainian Bessarabia Road.
As tourist services you can use here: an overnight stay, a swimming pool, a souvenir shop, try authentic Moldavian cuisine and enjoy green tourism, as well as visit several open-air museums.
Breed of Astrakhan sheep
The main gastronomic direction of Frumushiki-Novaya is the preparation of delicious mutton and sheep’s sheep cheese, as they are engaged in the cultivation of an old astrakhan sheep breed, which appeared in the steppes of Bessarabia in 1890.
From the northern part of Ukrainian Bessarabia, a group of experts from Europe visited Izmail, an ancient city on the Danube coast.
Then they visited the 150-year-old Vinaria wine cellar, where they tasted dishes prepared according to old recipes of Lipovan cuisine, as well as their own wine, summed up the representatives of the Geographical Indications in Ukraine project.
