Few people know about the existence of a hybrid of lavender - lavender. The culture has not yet spread in Ukraine, although lavender essential oil is almost similar in its properties to lavender and is widely used in medicine, and its yield is 2-3 times higher than that of lavender.
Lyudmila Svidenko, candidate of biological sciences, notes that culture grows very well in the conditions of the south of Ukraine. In the experimental farm, Novokakhovskoye even bred their own varieties of lavender.
She told about it during a seminar "Lavender - elements of agricultural technology of cultivation" organized by Charitable Foundation "Laska" and the Ukrainian project of fruit and vegetable business development on the basis of Nikolayevzelenkhoz LLC.
Narrow-leaved lavender
Lavender is a hybrid of two lavenders: narrow-leaved and broadleaf lavender. If narrow-leaved lavender can grow in the south of Ukraine, as it can withstand frosts of -25 ° C, then broad-leaved lavender is not frost-resistant and is not grown in Ukraine.
The homeland of lavender and lavender are the countries of the Middle Sea. There, on the border, where two types of lavender (broad-leaved and narrow-leaved) met, naturally occurring hybrids - lavender. They can also be obtained artificially by crossing. Now lavender is grown in the south of Ukraine, in the Crimea, in Moldova, as well as in the Mediterranean countries: France, Italy, Spain, Morocco, Yugoslavia.
Broadleaf lavender
Lavender plants are slightly higher than broad-leaved lavender and almost 2 times higher than narrow-leaved lavender. Lavender trees are large both in height and width, and in the capacity of peduncles.
Also, the hybrid has more rings in the inflorescence and flowers in the ring compared to the original types of lavender. So, if the bushes of small-leaved lavender are small - 45-50 cm, then in lavender they reach 90-105 cm.
Lavender
The farm grows 4 varieties of lavender.
