In the Ukrainian markets there is a dominance of a dangerous product - blueberries with high levels of radiation. Sometimes there are so many radionuclides in a berry that their amount exceeds the norm tenfold.

Harmful blueberries are delivered to the shelves mainly in three regions: Rivne, Zhytomyr and Kiev, and sometimes Khmelnitsky, according to the State Food and Beverage Service of Ukraine.

Employees of the department did not allow the sale of 6 lots of berries. They collect the radioactive berry directly in the exclusion zone or in the immediate vicinity of it. As previously reported by the media, not so long ago, the police detained a woman engaged in the collection of blueberries in the Chernobyl zone with a view to further selling it on the spontaneous market in Kiev.

According to Oksana Novokhatnaya, deputy head of the food safety department of the State Food and Beverage Service, such a berry has a high content of cesium, which poses the greatest danger to humans.

Eating berries with a high content of radionuclides is very dangerous. This has a bad effect on health, in addition, cesium has a long period of action and quickly enters the bloodstream. According to the radiologist Zinaida Rozhkova, the cardiovascular system takes the first blow.

After the nervous and reproductive systems are damaged. With prolonged use of infected berries, there is a high risk of malignant tumors. At the same time, dangerous blueberries are no different from ordinary: neither taste nor appearance.

Gosprodpotrebsluzhba does not advise buying berries in spontaneous markets. Basically, radioactive berries are sold in unregistered markets, where you do not need to have documents about their origin and check the product for the content of radionuclides. When buying, ask the seller for a certificate of goods.
