In 2019, Ukraine has every chance of collecting a record rapeseed crop of 3.5 million tons, which is 23% more than last year.

This was reported by the expert of the oil market of the company "Ukragroconsult" Julia Garkavenko. In her opinion, an increase in sown area under winter rape and its successful wintering will contribute to a high yield.

The expert noted that Ukrainian farmers have been increasing the area under rape for three consecutive years due to its high margin, which has increased more during this period. Due to the increase in the rapeseed crop, its export in the 2019/20 marketing year is expected to reach 2.9 million tons, which is 420 thousand tons more than this season.

The internal processing of rapeseed will also increase. According to forecasts, it will amount to 500 thousand tons, while in the 2018/19 marketing year it was at the level of 330 thousand tons. For information, rapeseed is widely used in many fields of agriculture and industry. It is noteworthy that all parts of the plant are used, that is, its production is waste-free.

Rapeseed is mainly grown to produce seed oil. After pressing the cake, they are sent to livestock feed, as well as green mass. Rapeseed oil is highly regarded in cooking, medicine, cosmetology, and the textile industry. It will be used in the manufacture of soap, the manufacture of biofuels and in metallurgy.
