In the Zhytomyr region, the harvest campaign “Harvest-2019” has begun, as reported by the Department of Agro-Industrial Development and Economic Policy of the Regional State Administration.
The harvesting of early grain and leguminous crops began in Berdichevsky, Ruzhinsky, Novograd-Volynsky, Chernyakhovsky, Narodichsky and Brusilovsky districts of the region. tons of grain from a new crop with an area of 2.4 thousand ha.
In particular, it was harvested: 20 tons of spring wheat, 10.3 thousand tons of winter barley, 30 tons of spring barley, 160 tons of peas. In addition, farmers in the region harvested 1.6 thousand tons of winter rape from an area of 600 hectares (2%).
To carry out the harvest in the Zhytomyr region, farmers plan to attract about 1 thousand units of combine harvesters.
Earlier it was reported that according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, on May 17 of this year, agrarians of the Zhytomyr region sowed corn for grain - 110.5 thousand ha (64.1% of the forecast), sunflower - 75.2 thousand ha ( 61.9% of the forecast), soybeans - 39.5 thousand ha (27.9% of the forecast).
On May 16, after heavy rain with hail, part of the area’s crops turned out to be damaged. Farmers talked about the formation of puddles in the fields. The largest number of complaints about the weather of spring 2019 was received from agricultural producers of the Novograd-Volynsky district of the region.
