This year's projections for poultry and beef in Georgia were presented by Georgia University Agricultural Economics Adam Rabinovich during the first of five Georgia Ag Forecast events held across the state. Farmers and other representatives of the agricultural industry met in the building of the Georgia State Farm Bureau in Macon.
According to Rabinovich, beef and poultry production in Georgia will grow, while most other crops produced in the state will remain stable or decrease. Broiler production is expected to grow in 2020. Broiler prices were mixed in 2019, and profitability was called into question due to lower prices for boneless breasts.
A piece of 4 cm thick is ideal for making beef steak. Cutting too thin will make the meat dry and thick - raw
The growth in the beef cattle breeding industry in Georgia is starting to slow down, and prices are expected to not improve in 2020 compared to prices in 2019. High consumer demand for beef, both domestically and abroad, should support livestock prices. Feed costs can reduce production profitability.
- As of September 1, 2019, the number of farmed poultry in Ukraine reached 254.8 million heads, which is 3.8% more than at the same date in 2018.
- The Polish beef market is under pressure: prices are constantly falling, as the EU market is full and exports to third countries are low, Farmer magazine reports.
- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has agreed to provide a loan of 4 million euros (4.5 million US dollars) for the Georgian Chirina poultry farm for the construction of 14 broiler farms, which will increase the production capacity of the enterprise by 50%.
