Ekosem-Agrar AG, the German holding company of the EkoNiva group, which specializes in milk production in Russia, continued to grow significantly in the first nine months of 2019.
The company increased its total herd this year to approximately 176 thousand animals (32%). The number of dairy cows has increased by 41% since the beginning of the year, rising to the level of 89 thousand animals.
As a result of the growing herd, the average daily production of raw milk has increased significantly over the current year from 1,650 tons to about 2.2 thousand tons (33%).
In the first 9 months of 2019, the Ekosem-Agrar company opened another 9 dairy cattle breeding premises, which were able to accommodate about 28.4 thousand dairy cows.
By the end of the year, the company plans to commission 3 more plants for approximately 11.6 thousand animals. The board expects the dairy herd to increase to about 100 thousand animals at the end of the year, and also increase the production of raw milk to about 800 thousand tons throughout the year.
The company has expanded its product range to include organic milk with a natural fat content of 3.3% to 6%. So far, this milk is available in the Globus Group hypermarkets in the metropolitan area of Moscow and Kaluga and in its own retail outlets.
New organic milk comes from the agricultural company Ecosem Savinskaya Niva in the Kaluga Region. 120 farm cows received fresh grass and certified organic feed from their own production. According to the company, animals produce about 1.3 thousand liters. raw organic milk every day.
