The young German developer Johannes Klausmann grew up on a laying hen farm. Now he is distributing the FarMS application so that poultry farmers have the opportunity to document operations in the house.
For many years, Johannes Klausman was troubled by the fact that he had to wade through a shed with documentation and pens to record data in the house, such as feed consumption or masonry performance. Direct speech: “There are always errors. Today, every farmer has a smartphone in his pocket, ”he says.
The FarMS farm management application was developed by Johannes Klausmann from Willingen-Schwenningen in Baden-Württemberg in 2017. It is primarily intended for layer owners.
The user can also collect data about other poultry, such as turkeys or broilers. It can document all important parameters, such as feed and water consumption, animal weight or masonry performance using a smartphone, tablet or PC.
Hens recognize spoiled eggs and throw them out of the nest.
Direct speech: “The application daily calculates various parameters in tabular and graphical form,” says the 27-year-old developer.
Every day, poultry farmers enter all the necessary data into the application, which gives an idea of the performance indicators of the flock of birds, such as feed consumption.
The user can see on the graph that, for example, the number of eggs has decreased over the past two weeks. Direct speech: "Is it because of recent changes in the diet?" - may ask the owner of the laying hen.
To give it a better overview, FarMS is also available as a web version for PC. Direct speech: “The application is designed to collect data. If I want to go directly to the analysis or compare my data with the breeding goals, I have to sit at the computer, ”Johannes describes the idea.
Data is stored in a central cloud, and the farmer remains its sole owner. The developer himself does not have access to them.
