The greenhouse complex “Round Year” is located in the Leningrad Region and is part of the Eco-Culture agricultural complex, which the enterprise acquired in 2017.
Maria Butkina, general director of the horticultural complex “All Year Round”, shared information on the demand for greenhouse products, consumer intelligibility, competition in the field and further development prospects.
The production capacity of the complex currently amounts to 6 thousand tons of products per year: 3 ha. allocated to cucumbers, 2 hectares. - for tomatoes and 1 ha. - to the salad. The company plans to build a second phase of a 5.5 hectare greenhouse where lettuce and tomatoes will be grown. Products are supplied not only within the immediate region, but also to Moscow and the Moscow region.
Marina Butkina noted that since the greenhouse is part of the largest agricultural holding in the Russian Federation, they are not under pressure from foreign agricultural companies.
In Russia, greenhouses appeared under Peter I.
The reason for this is not only production volumes, but also quality: Eco-kultura vegetables are biological and often outperform foreign products. Moreover, the greenhouse complex grows exclusive tomato hybrids and has virtually no competition in this market segment.
As for the demand and preferences of consumers, the population has become more demanding and more demanding on product quality. Buyers prefer high-quality salad and show interest in new varieties of cucumbers and tomatoes. For example, a Tatami tomato cocktail suddenly became very attractive, so its production volume is increasing. However, the cultivation of gherkins is unprofitable, because their productivity is too low for greenhouse production.
