During this week, a sharp drop in prices for white cabbage was observed in Russian markets. According to EastFruit project specialists, the price reduction is due to the lack of demand for the product due to its poor quality.

According to Russian farmers, the presentation of medium-sized cabbage varieties suffered from weather disasters. Long rains led to the formation of excess water in the fields, as a result of which the heads of cabbage cracked.

Reducing prices for white cabbage in the Russian markets during the week reached 22%. Already, the majority of agricultural producers give their goods at 9-16 rubles / kg., Which is 0.14-0.24 dollars / kg. Last week, vegetables were sold at prices that reached 20 rubles / kg. (0.30 dollars / kg.).

Agricultural producers associate such a rapid fall in prices with a small demand for cabbage amid rapidly growing supply. Now, most farmers have begun large-scale shipment of late cabbage, which affects the growth of supply.

It is noteworthy that at present the price of white cabbage in Russia is almost completely consistent with the price level for the same period last year. According to agricultural producers, it is possible that this product will continue to become cheaper.
