Migrants from Donetsk organized a mushroom farm in the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region. Sergey Storozh and his wife Tatyana are engaged in oyster mushrooms and plan to expand production facilities.
The couple moved to Bakhmut when a war broke out in their native Donetsk. First, Sergey fought at the forefront, and later studied entrepreneurship, defended a business grant and used the help to open his own business.
The grant received from the Czech organization "Man in Need" went to purchase equipment, but many spouses had to tinker on their own. For money from Czech benefactors were purchased: ventilation system, convector and air conditioning. So far, farmers use the simplest instruments to monitor indoor temperature and humidity.
Oyster mushrooms require special conditions for good yields, namely, a certain humidity and temperature. The family of farmers still has a small economy, it is located in a rented building.
In the near future, they have an expansion of production, namely, an increase in premises with more stringent requirements for mushroom cultivation conditions. The best option, according to entrepreneurs, is a private house with a large cellar, 3-4 meters deep in the ground, which is optimal conditions for oyster mushrooms.
Currently, farm yields are still modest. Entrepreneurs grow and transport mushrooms on request. In the case of expansion of production, spouse-farmers plan to deliver to wholesale markets and bases. In Bakhmut, businessmen do not yet have much competition.
